It's supposed to give twice the signal out compared to the simple dipole I was using before,
That does not mean twice the area but it does mean more.

At the moment I'm putting out +/- 200W Effective Radiated Power at the antenna.
I'm getting +/- 7km in all directions 

It will take 1000w of power which would give +/- 2000W Effective Radiated Power at the antenna.
Which would get me a few more km
