Title: Bird Box 3
Post by: Dave on November 14, 2015, 12:48:23 PM
This is the third in the series of bird boxes. This one Shirl and I have kept to use in the garden as our old one was a bit worse for wear.

As usual start with the bare wood and cut into the parts.

Now cut the access hatch out in the base

Create the doors and windows

Start to assemble the box

Now to make the hatch pin and cut up the balustrade

Now start to painting the parts

The front edge sections of the roof I shaped using the router, here you can see they have been cut and painted

Time to start putting it all together, like bird box 2, you will see this one it has a hole protection plate. For those who want to know why, it's because woodpeckers and larger birds sometimes try to make the holes bigger to get inside the box and on occasion eat the new chicks

Now to add the windows and doors and paint the base outside the box

Now it it's time to start the roof

With all the tiles on it's now time to add the ridge tiles

Now to add the balustrade

Now check the hatch opens and closes OK and it's all finished

Here it is on the shed
